Should I hire a med spa consultant or a marketing agency?

By the partners at Shefa Atelier ·

The short answer

A marketing agency runs campaigns and brings in enquiries. A business consultant helps you decide strategy and improve what happens after the enquiry: consultations, pricing, retention, team and expansion. If enquiries are coming in but revenue isn't growing, an agency alone usually won't fix it.

What each one does

  • Marketing agency — ad campaigns, content, social media, search and reporting on marketing activity.
  • Business or growth consultant — strategy, sales process, conversion, retention, pricing, KPIs, leadership and expansion decisions.

Signs you need strategy first

  • You already get a steady flow of enquiries but too few become paying clients.
  • You can't tell which marketing spend produces revenue.
  • Your agency reports clicks and leads, and you're unsure what to do with them.
  • You're making a big decision — a new location, a new hire, a new service line.

Questions to ask before hiring either

  • Have you worked inside businesses like mine, or only for them?
  • What exactly is included each month, and what isn't?
  • What will we measure, and how will we review it together?
  • Do you promise results? (Be cautious if the answer is yes.)

Where we fit

Shefa Atelier is a private advisory partnership, not an agency. We provide strategic advisory services. We do not provide advertising management, content production or full operational execution. Many clients keep their agency and use us to set direction and hold the whole funnel to account.
