How do I prepare my med spa to sell one day?

The short answer
Buyers and investors look for a business that runs without the owner, with clean financials, a stable team, repeat clients and processes that are written down. Building those things years before a sale also makes the business better to own today.
What buyers tend to examine
- Financial records that are accurate, consistent and easy to understand.
- How much revenue depends on the owner personally treating or selling.
- Provider and staff stability, and who holds key client relationships.
- Repeat and membership clients versus one-time visits.
- Documented processes for booking, consultations, follow-up and operations.
- Compliance with the medical, licensing and supervision rules in your state.
Start early
Reducing owner dependence, improving retention and cleaning up reporting take time. Starting two or three years before you want to sell gives those improvements time to show in your results.
Who to involve
For valuation, deal structure and legal questions, work with a qualified broker, accountant and healthcare attorney. We advise on the operating side — the improvements that make a practice stronger and less dependent on its owner. We don't value businesses or broker sales.
