How should we talk about payment plans and financing in consultations?
By the partners at Shefa Atelier ·
The short answer
Present the plan first, then the full investment, then — calmly and for everyone — the ways to pay. Financing should be a normal part of the conversation, not a last-minute rescue when someone hesitates.
Order matters
Recommend the plan and explain the expected results before discussing price. State the total investment once, clearly. Then explain payment options the same way to every client so no one feels singled out.
Make it easy to say yes
- Know your financing partners' process well enough to explain it in a sentence.
- Have the paperwork or application ready to start on the spot.
- Offer to split a plan into phases if the full plan isn't right today.
- Never pressure; a respectful “Would you like to start with the first phase?” is enough.
Train it like any other skill
Price and financing conversations improve quickly with practice. Our co-founder Amber Foster has trained sales teams in aesthetics where average client tickets were $10,000 to $20,000, and comfort with this conversation is one of the first things she works on.
